The annual Grammy Awards return tonight on CBS. It’s about damn time that Kendrick got some shine, but we won’t really be able to say that until the gold gramophones are in his hands. He faces some fierce competition with the likes of Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and more. Here are the three main nomination categories, the nominees, and what we think will go down.

Alabama Shakes, “Sound and Color”

Kendrick Lamar, “To Pimp a Butterfly”

Chris Stapleton, “Traveller”

Taylor Swift, “1989”

The Weeknd, “Beauty Behind the Madness”

We think the winner will be: The Weeknd, “Beauty Behind the Madness

Why: As much as we’d truly love to see Kendrick take the win for this major category, we just don’t think his last LP had the pop appeal that The Weeknd’s did. Taylor might just have swooned over the predominantly old white male members of the recording academy… in which case sorry Abel. We still think she’s had enough glory and everybody knows that. Taylor brought back a familiar 80’s sound that we all loved, but The Weeknd brought us new dark colors mixed with pop and R&B that got the world singing his lyrics, not to mention every single song on his album hit the hot 100. This is Abel’s year. Undeniably the best blend of pop appeal and musicality.

Kendrick Lamar, “Alright”

Taylor Swift, “Blank Space”

Little Big Town, “Girl Crush”

Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth, “See You Again”

Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”

Who we think the winner will be: Taylor Swift, “Blank Space

Why: Once again, I would LOVE nothing more than to see Kendrick go home with the song of the year, but we face the same issues. This time around Ed Sheeran is right up there with Mrs. Swift… but she’s Mrs. Swift. For every time “Thinking Out Loud” got stuck in your head, you know “Blank Space” did twice. 1,473,189,258 views isn’t too bad either. This is a song the young generation did not let slip out of the spotlight or radio. We think the name written in the blank space of the envelope will be Taylor’s.

D’Angelo and the Vanguard, “Really Love”

Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk!”

Ed Sheeran, “Thinking Out Loud”

Taylor Swift, “Blank Space”

The Weeknd, “Can’t Feel my Face”

Who we think will win: Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk!

Why: This is a fierce lineup. If you haven’t given “Really Love” a listen, do yourself a favor and check out the masterpiece that is that R&B goodness. Unfortunately, we know that one’s out of the race. We heard a ton of The Weeknd, Taylor, Ed, and Bruno this year, but in reality there wasn’t a demographic that “Uptown” didn’t appeal to. This was one of the most surprising hits in a while, but we definitely heard this song the most. The squeaky clean production, Bruno’s KILLER in your face vocals, the funky groove, world-wide reach, and catchiness all make for a Grammy winning song.

Let us know your thoughts and who you think will win!
