Recently, we caught up with the owner of Supremefeens and Genius Pieces for a short interview and to ask him a few things now that everything has taken off for the designer:
Q: What first gave you an idea to set up Supremefeens?
A: I saw an opportunity and capitalized like any other entrepreneur would do. I knew I was going to stem another business from it at some point, I just didn’t know what that would be at the time.
Q: Where did the inspiration behind Genius Pieces, your brand come from?
A: I’ve always wanted to start my own street wear brand, I was just waiting for the right time. One day I decided if I ever created my own brand it would be called Genius and here we are today.
Q: Was it easy for your brand to become well known and sell out because of Supremefeens?
A: Nothing is easy, but it definitely helped the brand take off a lot faster than it would of done alone
Q: What are your five favorite brands?
A: Supreme, Bape, Polo, Louis Vuitton, Raf Simons
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: In ten years, I see myself running the “streetwear” industry. I plan to open a storefront on Fairfax in 2017 to start, but in 10 years I would like to have a storefront in New York City, Europe and Japan.
Q: Did you have a lot of help and assistance from friends and family?
A: Nope, I did everything on my own and I plan on doing everything on my own for as long as I can. My friends and family have helped pack orders and support my decisions but it is a one man brand at the moment. It’s getting crazier everyday though so I might need help soon.
Q: Do you have anything you would recommend to people trying to start off their own brand?
A:Research and take your time
Q: What exactly is the Genius Jeep?
A: The GENIU$ Jeep is my tour vehicle. I plan on doing popups across the country in it, so lookout for the GENIU$ Jeep in your hood.
